This was a small home-made Board which fitted underneath one of the QL's ROM chips (I think) in order to provide a real-time battery backed clock (the original QL lost its time when you turned the power off).

As people moved to the Gold Card] and Super Gold Card this was no longer needed. The Minerva operating system could also come complete with a battery-backed real-time clock
